Outreach & Engagment Small Grants Application 

(January 1 – June 30, 2021)

Please fill out the below fields to submit your application. Note: applications must be submitted during a single session and cannot be saved for future submission. 

Criteria & Eligibility 

  • Maximum of $1,000 per initiative
  • A University of Toronto department, program, student group, faculty or other formal university organization must also be a co-sponsor (can be non-budgetary)
  • Student groups, clubs, faculty and staff are eligible to apply
  • Initiative must be urban focused
  • Funds can be accessed once per year by each applicant
  • Funds must be spent within 6 months of grant award
  • Priority given to initiatives that are public, accessible and free of charge
  • Eligible expenses: research assistance, graphic design, writing, hosting/technology expenses. Funds may not be used for honoraria. 
  • Other expenses to be approved on case by case basis


  • Acknowledgement of School of Cities support is requested on digital and/or print materials  
  • Original receipts required for reimbursement 
  • Following the conclusion of your initiative, provide a 300 word post-event narrative and summary of outcomes


  • Responses will be provided within 2 business days. All successful initiatives receiving funding and/or support will be promoted by the School of Cities
