School of Cities interim director Matti Siemiatycki, an associate professor of geography and planning, appeared on CTV's Your Morning to discuss the recently released Sidewalk Labs plan for Toronto's waterfront.
"There's still a lot of questions before these innovative ideas get implemented," Siemiatycki told CTV’s Your Morning's co-host Anne-Marie Mediwake.
As for the debate between convenience and privacy, "I think what we're getting at who's convenience, and who's privacy. There's going to be real difference between the people who live in these buildings, who maybe consent to their data being shared, whereas people traveling through the neigbourhood, and maybe don't consent, but are seeing sensors that are maybe picking up their data..." he said.
"It's hugely ambitious plan that thinks about building cities in a different way."
