The economic recovery from COVID-19 in Downtown Toronto is lagging behind compared to other North American cities according to a new joint research study done by the University of Toronto & University of California, Berkeley. The study, called "Death of Downtown?" ranked Toronto 49th out of 62 North American cities for downtown recovery. Professor Karen Chapple, director of the School of Cities at the University of Toronto, and one of the co-authors of this new study explains to Moore In The Morning a new survey showing why Toronto is lagging behind other cities when it comes to the return of workers downtown and whether things ever get back to normal.
